How do you optimally use natural sun protection for your face?

What is the difference between SPF30 and SPF50?

The SPF (Sun Protection Factor) indicates how much longer your skin is protected from UVB rays compared to unprotected skin. For example, SPF 15 means your skin is theoretically protected 15 times longer before redness occurs, SPF 30 30 times longer, and SPF 50 50 times longer.

So, if you normally blush after 10 minutes, SPF 30 theoretically offers 30 × 10 = 300 minutes of protection. In practice, this is an estimate , as factors such as sweating, swimming, the amount of sunscreen applied, and skin type affect the level of protection.

The percentage indicates how much UVB radiation is filtered. Contrary to popular belief, there isn't a huge difference between sunscreens with an SPF above 15:
